This past weekend was the perfect Fall escape in Mentone, Alabama.
We packed our bags, hit the road, and drove 1.5 hours to the Northeast corner of the state.
Early mornings were filled with fog and spent sipping coffee on the back deck.
It was a wet morning with rain anticipated for later in the day, so we were off early to Little River Canyon.
But first, we grabbed breakfast at Big Time Cafe in Fort Payne. Great home-cooked breakfast that was also not expensive.
Our first stop at Little River Canyon was Eberhart Point Overlook.
Grace’s High Falls: Alabama’s highest above-ground waterfall at 133 feet.
Wolf Creek Overlook: Little River is approximately 400 feet below the overlook.
Mushroom Rock: For comparison’s sake, my stepdad in this photo is 6’4″.
Little River Falls Boardwalk: A 100-foot boardwalk overlooking the river.
Little River Falls: Fall colors peeking through.
Wildflower Cafe: A favorite among locals and visitors alike.
The remainder of the day was spent watching college football, playing board games, and listening to the raindrops thump the metal roof on a Saturday afternoon in the mountains. -Hike Alabama-Connect with Hike Alabama on Facebook , Twitter , Instagram , and YouTube
