Red Mountain Park features 1,500 acres with 12 miles of hiking and biking trails, a dog park, tree houses, overlooks, historic mining sites and zip lining.

This nonprofit park is located minutes outside downtown Birmingham and extends 4.5 miles east-to-west along Red Mountain between the cities of Homewood and Bessemer.

Red Mountain has trails for hikers of all ages, from children to senior citizens.

Directions

  • Get off Lakeshore Blvd exit (exit 236) off I-65 just south of Birmingham.
  • Go towards Walmart and drive roughly 3 miles. You will pass Sam’s Club and Walmart, John Carroll Catholic School and Regions Bank.
  • Turn right onto Frankfurt Drive, pass Greybar and you will see the entrance. You may parallel park in the street in front of the park, or you may park in the gravel parking lot across the street from the park.
