Boulders at Moss Rock Preserve in Hoover
Natural Landscape at Moss Rock Preserve

If you are looking for a massive boulder field in the middle of a beautiful community, you’ve come to the right place.

Moss Rock is a 350 acre nature preserve with nearly 12 miles of hiking trails featuring wildlife, streams and waterfalls. It is home to four rare species of plants and a rare variant of Little River Canyon Sandstone Glade, which is believed to be one of only 35 occurrences known around the world.

It is a local favorite among climbers, who can often be seen scaling many of the graffiti-tapped boulders. After your hike, visit one of the shops located at The Preserve next to Moss Rock to grab a bite to eat.
